Beer-themed hotel coming to Stone Brewing
And if one of the world’s most iconic brewing companies has its way, travelers to San Diego could soon be met with a cold craft beverage at the front desk of their next hotel stay. Located on 13 acres of land adjacent to Stone Brewing World Bistro & Gardens-Escondido, the Stone Hotel will offer an all-encompassing experience with amenities curated to captivate craft beer enthusiasts and novices alike, according to the companies.

Per a press release, “Guests to Stone Hotel will delight in a craft beer experience complete from the moment of arrival” – literally: The hotel’s driveway will be inlaid with a design that depicts beer flowing from a tap all the way down to the street.
There doesn’t seem to be a moment when hotel guests won’t have a little bit of a buzz going on.
The $26 million, 99-room hotel will feature a rooftop pool and garden, walking trails, and an acre of outdoor event space; the gargoyle motif that adorns Stone Brewing’s labels will also be present throughout. Untitled Hospitality will partner with San Diego developer McMillin LLC to construct the property.
Koch said the project was on hold for many years so Stone could focus on brewing.
The concept for Stone Hotel has been in the works for several years but, as Stone co-founder Greg Koch said in a press release, “You can’t rush a good thing”. “I can’t wait to give our fans this unbelievable extension of the Stone experience”.
Untitled Hospitality is headed by CEO Robert Cartwright. Famed San Diego-based interior designer Paul Basile of BASILE Studio will spearhead the design elements, Stone said.
Concepts designers are now exploring with include outdoor showers, in-room growler cabinets, food-anywhere service, and a four-story, light-filled atrium inside the hotel. Guests will also have access to priority seating at Stone Brewing-an amenity worth the stay in its own right. While he founded Untitled in 2015, along with partners Dan Klunk and Hopi Stradling, specifically to develop the Stone property, which he describes conceptually as being an “upscale kickass hotel”.
