Before debates, Clinton aims to keep Trump expectations high

During the latest polling, Clinton faced renewed scrutiny about her handling of classified emails while serving as secretary of state from 2009 to 2013, and Trump’s campaign chief, Paul Manafort, resigned after a reshuffle of the candidate’s campaign leadership team. Doesn’t look like it.

According to Economist/YouGov online poll of registered voters, Clinton leads Trump by 47 to 44 per cent.

“But I will say this, if I was an American citizen, I wouldn’t vote for Hillary Clinton if you paid me”.

“She sold favors and access in exchange for cash”, Trump said.

She said the AP’s reporting was out of context, as it excluded “nearly 2,000 meetings” that Clinton had with world leaders “plus countless other meetings” with USA government officials while she was serving as Secretary.

Former President Bill Clinton pushed back on a report Wednesday that linked Hillary Clinton’s meetings while secretary of state to the Clinton Foundation’s donors. And her allies have sought to trumpet the work the foundation does to combat childhood obesity and bolster worldwide health initiatives. She said it excluded 2,000 meetings she had held with world leaders and US government officials and came to the conclusion that meetings she held with philanthropists like Melinda Gates or Nobel Prize victor Muhammad Yunus was connected to the foundation.

At the rally, Trump also continued his fiery rhetoric against undocumented immigrants. “The truth is, she was using [the private email server] for a year before I sent her a memo telling her what I did”. “Him, not so much”, said Michael Patterson, an engineer. “I’m going to make it so good”, Trump said. “If it were any other Republican, Marco Rubio, John Kasich, or even Ted Cruz, they’d be able to take advantage of this controversy more effectively”.

“We did provide a lot of life-saving work”, Clinton told CNN’s Anderson Cooper in a telephone interview.

Wednesday’s speech was Trump’s first appearance in Florida since he hired pollster Kellyanne Conway as campaign manager and his top strategist, Paul Manafort, resigned as campaign chairman.

Last week, the Clinton Foundation announced that it would no longer accept foreign donations or donations from corporations if Clinton is elected president in November. But several newspaper editorial boards are calling for the foundation to spin off the programs now.
