The U.S. Women’s National Soccer team continues to reap the rewards of winning the World Cup.

So, SI chose to go whole hog, featuring the players, coach, and one group shot.
“The USWNT has plenty of recognizable, even famous names, but we couldn’t think of a group so thoroughly identified with a team as this one”, Stone said in a statement to SI’s website. They are honoring the US Women’s National Team with the ultimate team honor by giving each player as well as manager Jill Ellis with their very own cover.
The July 20 issue will hit newsstands this week.
In the above video, you can see behind the scenes coverage of the cover shoot.
All team members were photographed before and after last week’s ticker-tape parade through New York City. The photographer we wanted to shoot it, and who had shot the Finals game, Simon Bruty, was headed home to D.C. It wasn’t going to happen on Tuesday. Shooting the images before and after the parade in New York on Friday, the magazine released all of the covers online on Monday. The World Cup winners received symbolic “keys to the City” from Mayor Bill de Blasio and much fanfare from fans lining the streets and holding up signs, and the champions stood, waved and blew kisses from atop their floats as streamers fell from office windows towering above.
