A Belgian official said there was no immediate indication of the blast being a terrorist attack. The official said five people were in the building at the time, with the remaining two victims only slightly injured.
Blast at sports centre has killed at least one, according to local media.
The incident happened shortly after midnight at the Chalon sports complex in Chimay, in the province of Hainaut. But local rescue services calmed citizens, saying it was just an accidental explosion.
Eyewitness Vince Crate, a student from Chimay, told the Daily Star Online: “When the explosion occurred, I was with a friend”.
“There had been an explosion in the gym”. Part of the building was destroyed. A municipal emergency has been declared, HNL reported.
