Moreover, Abdeslam had gathered a large network of people around him in Brussels, Reynders said.

Belgian Foreign Minister Didier Reynders said on Sunday that Abdeslam may have been plotting more operations drawing on weapons discovered in the apartment where the shootout occurred and a network of associates.

Another man arrested at the same time as Salah Abdeslam, Monir Ahmed Alaaj, has also been charged with participation in terrorist murder and the activities of a terrorist group, Belgian prosecutors say.

Radicals such as another Molenbeek man Abdel-Hamid Abaaoud, the suspected planner of the Paris attacks who was killed by French police late a year ago, posted Internet videos of his exploits as a foreign fighter in Syria.

Abdeslam’s Belgian lawyer, meanwhile, threatened to launch legal action Monday against a French prosecutor, accusing him of breaching the confidentiality of the investigation into the deadly rampage in Paris.

At a joint press conference with his counterpart, French federal prosecutor Francois Molins, Belgium’s Frederic Van Leeuw praised the ongoing Paris attacks investigation as a joint effort between Belgian and French police.

Mr Molins had claimed Abdeslam admitted to police he “wanted to blow himself up at the Stade de France” before backing out.

Abdeslam’s leg was slightly injured in the raid.

“We hope [his arrest] will help us in the search for truth” read the message from one support group set up after the November attacks. Reynders said were certainly “out there” and planning further violence. Abdeslam is worth gold.

Once captured, the terrorist was taken to a high-security prison in Bruges, a northwestern city in the nation.

Laachraoui, then known as Kayal, was presented as a suspect by the authorities in December.

Noting that a witness to one of the Paris attacks said they saw what looked to be encryption software on one of the terrorists’ laptops, Dina says there’s a chance Abdeslam could tell investigators crucial information about the software and security practices.

The violation that Sven is referring to in regards to the French prosecutor who spoke out of turn about a case in Belgium is communicated by the publication.

Jambon also confirmed suspicions that Abdeslam and accomplices may have been preparing an attack in Brussels when police found their hideout in Forest, a Brussels neighbourhood, last Tuesday.

The Belgian authorities have charged Abdeslam with terrorism offences.

He said investigators had established that Abdeslam had rented at least two vehicles used in the Paris attacks, and had bought 12 remote detonators as well as peroxide used to fabricate the explosives.
