Belgium: 2 suspected of plotting attacks arrested
Belgian authorities detained two individuals in different areas of the united states on Monday and Sunday, both suspected of plotting an attack in Brussels on the Eve of New Year, federal prosecutors said. However, no weapons or explosives were found, Associated Press reported.

During the searches, the office says military-type training uniforms, propaganda materials from the militant group and computer material were seized and are being examined. One of those arrested was charged with acting as a terror group leader and recruiting others for terrorist acts.
Belgian police have arrested nine people in connection with the Paris attacks.
In November Brussels was placed under a four-day lockdown closing universities, schools and the metro system, amid fears of a Paris-style attack.
But investigators said the police action was not linked to the wave of deadly attacks in Paris in November which France says were prepared in Belgium.

Several of the perpetrators are thought to have been based in Belgium.
