Lost in the fireworks was a solid start by Miguel Gonzalez, who the Sox called up for the occasion.

“It’s great to see these guys never quit”, Hamels said. “Quite frankly, we’ve asked a lot of Miguel, bringing him up for a spot start against a really good hitting team in Toronto, and then 10 or 12 days later bringing him back against another hard offensive team in their home park [on Monday]”.

White Sox DH Avisail Garcia tied the longest hitting streak (11 games) of his career with his bases-loaded double. Texas LHP Derek Holland’s next start has been pushed back a day.

Mariners 6, Rays 5 – At Seattle: Chris Iannetta led off the bottom of the 11th inning with a homer to give Seattle a victory over Tampa Bay and a sweep of the three-game series.
