Ben Affleck Confirmed To Direct Stand-Alone Batman Movie

One of the sole bright spots to come out of the dumpster fire called Batman v Superman was Ben Affleck’s performance as Batman.

The news we all knew was coming was finally announced by Warner Bros today at CinemaCon 2016 in Las Vegas.

While the new film has been rumoured for some time, Warner Bros chairman and CEO Kevin Tsujihara has put the speculation to rest. It is exciting to see what Affleck will bring to the film, considering the fact that he has already proven himself when it comes to writing and directing.

Affleck seems like the guy everyone loves to hate but there’s no doubt that he is talented. Pictures is looking to extend its relationship with their new Batman, Ben Affleck.

The CEO also mentioned that there are 10 DC comic movies launching for the next 5 years, among which Ben Affleck will be playing the role of Batman simultaneously directing the entire movie.

It would mean that the Batman film would be set prior to the events of Man of Steel and BvS, and Affleck would be playing a much young version of the Dark Knight. But we never really got confirmation from anybody in authority at DC or Warner Bros.

The stand-alone Batman feature is part of Warner Bros. plans for an expanded DC Comics cinematic universe, similar to that of the Disney and Marvel collaboration.

Will Affleck direct? Is something actually happening?

Directed by Zack Snyder and starring Henry Cavill, Ben Affleck, Diane Lane, Gal Gadot, Jesse Eisenberg, Jeremy Irons, Laurence Fishburne, and Amy Adams, Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice will arrive in United Kingdom and U.S. cinemas now. No other details or casting announcements were announced for the future Batman film.

The “Batman” movie is expected to be released by 2018 or 2019. Affleck will also take on the role of Bruce Wayne/Batman when the follow-up film “The Justice League” releases.
