Ben Affleck to Star in and Direct Solo Batman Film
After several weeks of rumors, it appears it’s official: Ben Affleck will star and direct the next standalone Batman film.

“I was surprised because that’s the thesis of Superman for me – that you can’t just have superheroes knock around and have there be no consequences”, Snyder told EW. He also directed the film but did not receive an Oscar nomination in that category.
Batman’s new suit will of course be fitted out in accordance with fighting a new level of threat in the virtually indestructible Superman. He also said that a lot of Bruce Wayne’s people died because of that controversial ending in “Man of Steel.” The Batman vs Superman fight should be the best part of the entire movie. We’ve known that Warner Bros. wanted to do solo Batman films ever since WB made the big DC schedule announcement previous year, and we’ve long guessed that Affleck would likely be the director. Man of Steel was a particularly egregious example of this, with presumably thousands dead in carnage that was treated as mindless action fare. Otherwise, the lack of non-Marvel films has been one of their big successes. More details about it are bound to emerge then.
That seemed to be the final proof Snyder had no idea how to address massive, and seemingly uncharacteristic, collateral damage from Superman – or at least was unwisely saving it all for the sequel. But, as it stands, it’s definitely an introduction of the Batman character and, ultimately, the introduction of the Justice League films. And since everybody knows that the second comic-book movie is the one that’s really about the villain, that meant they needed a great antagonist to follow in Zod’s city-leveling footprints.
“That’s not us. What is that message?”
Henry Cavill spoke with Entertainment Weekly about the possibility of individual Superman sequels but added his belief that Superman is a bit of a harder sell when compared to a guy who dresses up as a bat.
