Ben Carson campaign retracts West Point story
But West Point told Politico it had no record of Carson applying or being offered admission.

But Politico looked into those claims, and found that West Point has no record of Carson ever applying, being offered a scholarship, or being accepted at all. “I never said – wait a minute, don’t lie!” “Because they have been looking through everything”.
“There is a desperation on behalf of a few to try to find a way to tarnish me because they have been looking through everything. There has got to be a scandal”.
Ben Carson was a brilliant student who had already shown an interest in the military and had demonstrated leadership skills.
The story’s opening paragraph also stated originally that, “Ben Carson’s campaign on Friday admitted, in a response to an inquiry from POLITICO, that a central point in his inspirational personal story was fabricated: his application and acceptance into the U.S. Military Academy at West Point”.
“I didn’t refuse the scholarship outright, but I let them know that a military career wasn’t where I saw myself going”, he wrote. Or, as Politico put it: “indeed there are no ‘full scholarships, ‘ per se”.
Additionally, Carson is said to have lied about a full-scholarship he was offered for the U.S. Military Academy at West Point.
“This is a bunch of lies, that is what it is”, Carson said on CNN’s New Day with Alisyn Camerota. “It was specifically made”. Carson, saying he was drawing from the Bible, said he believes the pyramids were built to store grain. “It’s nearly 50 years ago. That’s what we’re talking (about) here”.
These reports come after media outlets have questioned other Carson claims over the past few weeks. “What is false about it?”
“I think everybody has equal rights, but I’m not sure that anybody should have extra rights – extra rights when it comes to redefining everything for everybody else”. It’s not clear to me how quickly the ruin will set in.
“I do not remember this level of scrutiny for one President Barack Obama when he was running”, he said.
In his book Gifted Hands, Ben Carson describes himself as a troubled young boy, who often got himself into violent situations growing up. “I told it as I understood it”. “Big story”, Trump tweeted, the latest in a string of attacks on Carson by the business mogul. But about half had experience as elected members of colonial assemblies, and Watts admitted the error to The Washington Post. The story is now headlined, “Exclusive: Carson claimed West Point “scholarship” but never applied”. He never said he was admitted or even applied. The revelations are important as they form a part of Carson’s successful narrative which has led him to take the lead in the presidential primary polls on 4 November, alongside faith in god to narrowly escape a life of crime, and could tarnish his credibility as a presidential candidate.
