Ben Carson’s son says dad ‘isn’t perfect,’ but lived ‘exemplary’ life
Grant Grasmick, a local lumber magnate who met Carson 16 years ago while both were doing charity work, said in comments to Reuters after the Politico story appeared: “I know who the man is, I know he’s genuine”.

Carson, the first African-American to enter the Republican field for the party’s presidential nomination next year, is a political novice from outside the traditional party system. The site reported that Carson lied about receiving a “full scholarship” to West Point.
And, even if you support Carson, you should find it slightly odd that nine people who grew up with him in Detroit told CNN said that his recounting of his troubled youth and angry temperament don’t jibe with their remembrances. “He’s claimed he was offered a scholarship”.
In a review later that day, the Columbia Journalism Review said POLITICO “overpromised on what they exposed”, noting that Carson “hasn’t claimed he applied to and was accepted by West Point”.
(“The wonderful thing about a company like Mannatech is that they recognize that when God made us, He gave us the right fuel.”) I think the two botched hits on him over the stabbing and West Point are going to deafen voters’ ears to other allegations, though, especially with Carson shrewdly attacking the media this week as being out to get him because they’re “secular progressives” and feel threatened by him. He considered it but in the end did not seek admission.
In his book, Carson said he was “overjoyed” to get what he incorrectly calls a scholarship offer – all students at the four USA service academies attend free of charge – but said he was focused on a career in medicine. They were very impressed with my incredible rise to city executive officer faster than anyone had ever done that before, and said that, we would be able to get you a full scholarship to West Point. “I don’t really know”, Trump said on CNN’s “State of the Union”. When asked to cite his greatest weakness, Carson cryptically said that it was never thinking he would run for president until late in his life when the public told him that he should.
Friday afternoon, Carson held a press conference in which he berated the media for a double standard and insisted he had never claimed to have been offered a full scholarship. “What is false about it?” “In fact, I remember just the opposite”.
“People want to take shots and bring good people down”.
“I’m blown away by his notoriety”, Davis said.
Hours earlier, Carson had told Fox News in an interview, “I guess it could have been more clarified”. Interestingly, he doesn’t push too hard on the claim that Carson’s a liar; maybe even Trump is anxious about backing up Politico with Republicans as angry as they are. About half had experience as elected members of colonial assemblies, and Watts later admitted the error to The Washington Post. Citing privacy concerns, his campaign has refused to name the person involved, and Carson said Friday he would “think about it” only if reporters would promise to sing his praises if he did so. “And they are anxious”, Dr. Ben Carson told CBS’s “Face the Nation” on Sunday. So far, nobody else has verified the dramatic and vividly recalled tales of Carson attempting to stab his friend and trying to strike his mother with a hammer.

After announcing the large haul in a Facebook post, Carson said his page on the social media platform also gained more than 100,000 new “followers”. Enlarge Carson’s childhood seems as fabricated as “Million Little Pieces” by James Frey.
