The Council on Islamic-American Relations said Carson’s comments make him unfit to be president.

“Dr. Carson’s remarks are just another example of a Republican candidate’s refusing to speak for three million Muslim Americans”, Reid said.

Carson on Sunday said he wouldn’t support a Muslim President because Islam is not “consistent with the Constitution”.

Responding to a question during an interview broadcast Sunday on NBC’s “Meet the Press“, Republican hopeful Ben Carson described the Islamic faith as inconsistent with the Constitution.

“I would be in favor of pushing them [ISIS] up into Syria, because there’s going to be a lot of conflict, obviously, with them there”, Carson said.

“You know, the Constitution specifies there shall be no religious test for public office and I am a constitutionalist”, said Cruz during a taping of “Iowa Press,” a public access TV show. The response to Dr. Carson’s comments has been swift as well, especially among Muslim-American groups.

As Donald Trump’s newest “celebrity” supporter, Ted Nugent, reminds us, there are some people who think that the President of the United States is already Muslim.

When Todd asked if Carson believed Islam was consistent with the Constitution, Caron said “No, I don’t – I do not”.

Implicit in that claim was the suggestion that some Americans would not want to have a Muslim in the White House.

Carson, who is near the top of several early presidential polls, said a president’s faith should matter depending on what that faith is. According to Nihad Awad, Ben Carson’s 2016 campaign should be suspended, with the retired doctor withdrawing from the race completely.

But King said because Islamist extremists are at war with the United States it would be legitimate to ask a Muslim candidate for his or her views on jihad and terrorism. Carson, a devout Christian, says a president’s faith should matter to voters if it runs counter to the values and principles of America.
