Ben McAdoo to replace Tom Coughlin as Giants head coach, reports say

McAdoo said the Giants’ theme of 2016 will be “evolution, not revolution”.

As I wrote earlier, there were major obstacles to Tom Coughlin taking #Eagles job – assistants, personnel responsibilities, among others. “I’m my own biggest critic”, McAdoo said. “But we were not going to not cooperate”. The Eagles are seeking a replacement for Chip Kelly, who was sacked five days before Philadelphia’s season-ending victory over Coughlin and the Giants. But McAdoo doesn’t see it that way – at least not yet. That’s a good thing.

That aggressive play calling, though, has been a part of McAdoo’s game. The soon to be 70-year-old coach made the decision himself that it was time to move one.

“That’s a competitive advantage for opponents”, he responded. Because when you look at what he has done with the Giants’ offense over the last couple of years, he has been as gifted a coordinator as Belichick was for Parcells. It’s hard to imagine THAT would be a competitive advantage for opponents.

“Whoever hires him will be getting a heck of a coach”.

“We’re not looking to rebuild. And we’re going to start in a couple minutes”. “The vision for this football team is putting a fifth Lombardi Trophy in the case”.

ALSO: Who does Mel Kiper Jr. have the Giants drafting at No. 10? . Northern New Jersey isn’t exactly convenient to the Bay Area. “Everybody else is already taken, including Tom”.

“If the Giants hit on this, and people inside the organization believe that they have and have really viewed him as that, then this is something that could lend them some long-term success, give them longevity, some consistency”. It makes sense for McAdoo to want to remain in NY, where he already has his scheme in place and is familiar with the personnel and management. “Jerry and I interviewed six impressive candidates, and when we were through with that process, we had another conversation with Ben, as did Steve and Jon Tisch”.

“As one of the most historic franchises in the National Football League, I realize the high standards and expectations that this position demands and I embrace the challenges ahead”, Kelly said in a statement.

“I played for Bill Belichick and Nick Saban, they get you to play above and beyond anything you thought you could do but they do it a different way”. The Giants job is just plain better. “… I have been very fortunate to have a lot of great coaches, administrators and players take an interest in me and my career”.
