Ben Simmons: Ben Simmons (rest) will not play Thursday

Simmons sat out because of a scheduled rest day, but Thomas didn’t appreciate the rookie taking a day off.

Hall of Fame guard Isiah Thomas thinks that rookie Ben Simmons not playing in three of the Sixers’ eight Summer League games – one because of cramps, two for rest – means he’s not “earning his money”.

“He should be playing tonight”.

“Earn your money, get on the floor and play”, Thomas said.

“You know, you’ve got people coming into the building, they wanna watch him play”.

In three games in the Las Vegas summer league, Simmons is averaging 11.3 points, 7.0 rebounds, 5.3 assists and 1.3 steals in 29.7 minutes.

“… Don’t start developing bad habits right now”, Thomas continued. So what, he missed a SUMMER LEAGUE game against dudes we will never hear from? Simmons still showed up, took pictures and signed autographs with fans so it’s not like they’re going home disappointed.

New Orleans is set to take on the D-League Select team in the first game of the day. The Summer League is the flawless time to rest somebody.

Simmons isn’t the only rising National Basketball Association star to miss summer league games, though.
