Rob Marshall (Into the Woods) is directing Mary Poppins Returns, with David Magee writing the script based on P.L. Travers’ original Poppins stories.

Marshall, John DeLuca and Marc Platt are producing the project, which will shoot early 2017 in London.

The movie, called Mary Poppins Returns, will star Emily Blunt as the practically flawless nanny and Hamilton star Lin-Manuel Miranda as her lamplighter friend Jack, a new character. “Through her unique magical skills, and with the aid of her friend Jack, she helps the family rediscover the joy and wonder missing in their lives”.

Look for Mary Poppins Returns to hit the big screen December 25, 2018. Now THR reports that London Spy and Spectre star Ben Whishaw may be joining them.

Speaking previously, he said: “I am truly humbled and honoured to be asked by Disney to bring PL Travers’ further adventures to the screen”.
