Donald Trump heard of this, although he’d never heard of the show, never heard of us, but at a party thrown for him it was decided that I should be brought along so he could have a look at the person who admired Ivana, to whom he was no longer married.

Although Joanna and Jennifer appear inseparable in the sequel, the mother of one – who has son 48-year-old son Jamie Lumley with her ex-partner Michael Claydon – has revealed her husband Stephen Barlow is her true soul mate. She’s good at acting actually, too, I said that to her but she went, “Na na na”.

The sitcom first broadcast in 1992, introduced viewers to Saunders’ PR character, Edina Monsoon, and her boozy magazine editor friend, Patsy. “So I just did my gushing Joanna ‘hello.’ It was a shocking moment”.

The exciting news ties in nicely with recent revelations from Saunders, promoting the upcoming celeb-packed Ab Fab Movie, due for United Kingdom release on July 1, that Patsy is – OMG – trans.

She said: “As a physical experience, yes”.

Saunders did have better luck with other famous names, though, as the film boasts cameos by Jon Hamm, Rebel Wilson, Joan Collins, Kate Moss, Jerry Hall, Jean-Paul Gaultier and Stella McCartney.

Joanna told Graham Norton: “It was very awkward at the read-through”. Joking about the supermodel appearing in the film, Jennifer revealed: “The amusing thing was I had sold the idea of the movie to the studio and the BBC and then realised I hadn’t actually asked Kate”.
