Bengals’ CB depth cushions blow of William Jackson’s possible season-ending injury
Jackson tore his pectoral muscle in National Football League training camp on Tuesday morning and will in all honesty probably miss the entire 2016 National Football League season. Jackson will certainly get delays on his growth in the Bengal’s team due to his injury but it has no effect on the team’s plans at the cornerback position this season.

It’s very bad news for Jackson. Other than that, he is hoping to be a regular part of Bengals’ cornerback.
This isn’t a backbreaking loss for the Bengals, because they weren’t going to rely on Jackson heavily this year with the likes of former first rounders Dre Kirkpatrick and Darqueze Dennard still around, not to mention Adam Jones.
Unfortunately, Jackson will have to recover from a serious injury before seeing the field. Although Jackson eventually would have gotten some time working inside as a slot cornerback this camp, his primary spot likely would have been on the outside where the two veterans were already present. The Bengals let him walk this spring, and he remains unsigned.
Asked if he thinks there is interest on both sides for a Hall return, Lewis said, “Oh, yeah”. He suffered an Achilles injury in 2011 that limited him to nine games, and suffered another torn Achilles two years later that limited him to just five games.

Rookie seasons are often viewed as “redshirt” type years for cornerbacks anyway, and that’s especially the case in Cincinnati. Currently, Dennard is sidelined with an ankle injury but it’s unclear how long he’ll be out. Either way, the Bengals really need their 2016 first-rounder to capitalize on his potential and make an impact. Kirkpatrick could hit free agency after this season if the Bengals don’t agree to a new contract sooner. But do not panic. That’s why you’re permitted to be concerned, Bengals fans.
