Bengaluru ODI: Australia bat as Wade replaces Maxwell

Opener David Warner hit a sparkling century in his 100th one-day global to guide Australia to 334-5 against India on Thursday. The match is scheduled to commence at 1:30 pm.

The left-handed Warner hit 12 fours and four sixes. Kohli was soon bowled by Coulter-Nile for 21.

Umesh Yadav starred with the ball for the hosts, taking 4/71. A splendid job indeed for the vice-captain, well it was his 100 in his 100th ODI game, the first ever Aussie to achieve the feat.

The previous winning run under Dhoni stretched from February 2008 to January 2009.

Indian cricket team has already won the series by clinching victories in the initial three games in this series of 50-overs format of cricket.

While Mathew Wade comes back in the Playing XI for Glenn Maxwell, Adam Zampa replaces Ashton Agar.

Jadhav, whose spirited 69-ball knock included seven hits to the fence and a six, was dismissed when he misread a slow leg-cutter by Richardson with Finch latching on to the ball at long-off. M.S. Dhoni was given a hero’s welcome by the crowd, but struggled to time the ball before dragging Richardson onto the stumps for 13. 10 matches have ended in no-results.

If Australia want to make an impact, skipper Smith and opener David Warner, who will be playing his 100th ODI today, will have to fire in the remaining games.

Australia were looking good for a total close to 400 but the Indian bowlers pulled back in the final 15 overs in which the visitors could manage only 103 runs.

This time they held on as India came up short to give Australia a much-needed win – their first overseas ODI success in nearly a year. It is the Special stadium for numerous Indian Players.

A mini-collapse stunted the momentum of the innings as Warner, Finch (94) and Smith (three) departed in the space of 14 balls with Australia losing 3-5.

Warner brought all his repertoire of strokes and the spinners even faced the wrath of the left-hander swashbuckling switch-hitter. It is the experience match for the India and the team. David Warner and Steve Smith rushed from point and cover to pick up the ball, and perhaps to give Kedar a sense of situation he had just walked into. Warner has been completely absent as a force from this series.

When he slammed Axar Patel for a six and reached his 50 off 45 balls, Warner had laid a platform and made a decision to change gears in grand style.
