Benghazi victim’s mother to Trump: Stop the mentions

“For all of this loss, for all of this grief, for all of the cynicism, the tragedy in Benghazi has brought on America, I blame Hillary Clinton”, Patricia Smith, the mother of Sean Smith, said at the RNC.

Her speech was followed up by a big speech from John Tiegen and Mark Geist, two members of the security team stationed in Benghazi that night. Christopher Stevens, for politicizing his 2012 death in Benghazi to attack Democratic Rival Hillary Clinton.

The mother of Christopher Stevens, the USA ambassador killed in Libya four years ago, is objecting to the Donald Trump campaign’s use of his name and fate as part of the Republican’s run for the White House.

“I hope that there will be an immediate and permanent stop to this opportunistic and cynical use by the campaign”, she said.

To “use Chris’s death as a political point”, Anne Stevens added, “is not appropriate”.

The Republican presidential candidate sent a tweet last month specifically about Stevens’ death. Ambassador Chris Stevens’ name is the most recognizable of the Benghazi victims, and it’s the one that Donald Trump has consistently used when disparaging rival Clinton about Benghazi.

Her admonition, however, hasn’t stopped Trump from politicizing Stevens’ death.

‘If you want to know about Hillary Clinton’s honesty & judgment, ask the family of Ambassador Stevens.’ he wrote on June 21 to Twitter.

She called Trump and the Republican Party “opportunistic and cynical” for abusing the memory of her son. Should Donald Trump and the Republican Party honor the wishes of Ambassador Chris Stevens’ mother?
