Benik Afobe will be big threat for Bournemouth against Arsenal – Olivier Giroud

Upon completing his move to to the south coast, Gunners boss Arsene Wenger backed Afobe to be a hit at the Vitality Stadium and again spoke warmly of the 22-year-old in the build-up to Sunday’s clash.

Afobe has scored three goals in his last three games for Bournemouth after signing from Wolves in a reported £10million transfer in January. Help me progress as a player and I’ve got a lot to thank them for and I respect them a lot.

“Nobody can break me down in that sense and nobody can say “if you had played for Arsenal, this or that, or you didn’t get a chance because you weren’t good enough”.

“I think I’m doing quite well in that part of my job”. Because 2013 doesn’t play games any more.

Leyton-born Afobe, who began his youth career at Arsenal in 2001, was sent on loan six times by the club between 2010 and 2015, before joining Wolves.

But when Bournemouth host his boyhood club in Sunday’s early kick-off, Afobe has warned his former club that although he holds no grudges – he certainly won’t take any prisoners in the pursuit of three points.

Arsenal, meanwhile, are scoreless during that same stretch and Afobe could heap more misery on Wenger if he further dents Arsenal’s faltering title push.

However, Bournemouth will be no pushover’s as they’ve already proven this season they can mix it with the top clubs and they could move above Chelsea in to 13th place with a win on home soil tomorrow.

“I’m in the Premier League now scoring goals so at the end of the day I’m happy”. I don’t get scared, I don’t fear anyone, I’m confident and I believe in myself and my team-mates.

“You need to get more experience and more time on the pitch, it’s very important when you are younger to improve yourself”, Giroud told his club’s official website, while speaking about Afobe.

While Afobe may not get his hands on a Premier League winner’s medal anytime soon (although you never know, just look at Leicester…), he could do the next best thing and help preserve Bournemouth’s top-flight status by firing them to safety.

“They have been massively responsible because I was there from when I was six. For me it was just that the chance didn’t come”.
