Benitez confident of Newcastle’s survival in EPL

Leicester City will be looking to extend their lead at the top of the English Premier League (EPL) table when they take on Newcastle United at the King Power Stadium on Monday. “Credit to the players on their day off – they wanted to train”.

Steve McClaren was relieved of his Newcastle United duties shortly before midday on Friday.

“Each club is different”.

The risk of falling out of the top flight has been magnified by a record-breaking three-year 5.1 billion pound ($7.33 billion) broadcast deal that offers Premier League clubs more television revenue than ever from next season.

Manchester City play a Norwich team in devastatingly bad form that has stretched over months and could see them face the drop if things fail to turn around quickly. “But I am here to do my best and I’m convinced we can do well”. “We want to bring in good players in the future and I am sure we will if everything is fine”.

The former Real Madrid has confirmed that he has a break clause in his contract that will allow him to depart if he fails to guide the club to safety, but should he stay on for next season he has told the club that there should be a change to the current approach, which has seen chief scout Graham Carr responsible for player recruitment.

The former Liverpool manager wants everyone to know his target is to make Newcastle a long term success story, even if he is having to focus on the immediate run of fixtures first as a priority.

“Some people can see the relegation clause as special, but it’s normal. I said before, we have enough quality in the squad”, said Benitez when asked about their chances.

“The fans will be behind us and will help”.

“But we didn’t have too much time to prepare for Leicester so I said, “Listen, fantastic, we will have lunch any time”.

“They wanted to train and it was a positive atmosphere. The three points are very important for us”. He has the utmost respect of all the players, staff and management and he leaves with our very best wishes and honest thanks. Mahrez had been taken off during the win against Watford last weekend with a suspected hamstring strain, but he will feature for Leicester in their Monday night game against Newcastle.

“Whereas Rafa can come in, he can put down exactly what he wants, he’s not a head coach, he’s a manager, he can have the transfer system – both incomings and outgoings – and he can name all that before coming in”.

“This is a big challenge but I have confidence”, he said.

“After that I will be a manager but my first concentration is on the ten games”. He credits to have spoken with Peter Beardsley, Alan Shearer, and Michael Owen.

“They know this is a massive club and, if you do things in the right way and you can stay in the Premier League, you can build and try to be a hero for the city, if we can achieve something”. I was just waiting for something in England.
