Benteke is calling on Liverpool to find higher gear

“With Sturridge, you can’t rely on him for a full season, but he’s back training and he gets goals”. Fans have started to question the tactics of manager Brendan Rodgers on a large scale. Their former director of football expects these games to define the rest of the season for Liverpool as they try to improve after a disappointing 2014-15 campaign.

It has been revealed by Manchester United boss Louis van Gaal now that he convinced executive vice-chairman Ed Woodward to sign young Frenchman Anthony Martial after stating that the 19 year old striker was the best player in his age group.

“I think it was one of those flawless days, and I hope we can enjoy many more in Old Trafford this season”.

The ex-England global thinks they lack creativity and goals in the side and thinks that playing two up top would solve the issue.

Fellow pundit Gary Neville also reporting for Sky Sports says the team also lacks pace – something Sturridge has plenty of and his inclusion would certainly inject some much needed speed.

The Reds head to Bordeaux on Thursday as the games start to come thick and fast for an under-fire set of players, with there now being no place to hide for Rodgers and his troops.

Newcastle reporter Miles Starforth was at Upton Park, read his player ratings here – warning, they are low. “And there were too many poor performances”. However, the implosion against West Ham and the three soft goals conceded against United have once again shown that the individuals in defence are woefully inept to consistently deliver a good performance. I always knew where he was, where he was going to move next. “It’s going to be a very special game for Memphis [Depay], it reminds me of my visit to Valencia with Chelsea a few months after my arrival in England“, he added.

“When I scored, I thought in my mind that maybe we could come back, but they scored to make it 3-1 and that killed our hopes”, Benteke said.

“But they will be asking themselves why a lavishly assembled squad appears so ill-equipped to perform the basics adequately”.
