Bentley Continental GT Speed – at 206mph!
The Stuart Highway covers a distance of 2834 kilometres from Darwin in the Northern Territory to Port Augusta, South Australia.

Speaking of the auto, the Continental GT Speed is also about 2,320 kilos of bulk though that did not stop the vehicle from reaching its top speed of 206mph in 76 seconds flat.
Not all of the Stuart Highway is limitless – much like its high-speed cousins the Autobahn and the Isle of Man. However, there are sections where the 81-mph limit vanishes, and the road becomes a land speed test-track.
“This isn’t a modified racecar; it’s a luxurious grand touring road vehicle fresh off the production line”.
After a quick staging session, Bowe launches the Continental, and effortlessly reaches 206 miles per hour in a little over one minute.
The impressive achievement is possible thanks to the massive W12 6.0-liter twin-turbo mill churning out an impressive 635 PS (467 kW) and 820 Nm (607 lb-ft) of torque.
Bowe has been racing for over 40 years with 1,000 race starts to his credit including two Bathurst 1000 championships and hence definitely knows a lot about high speed driving.
At over 330km/h, the GT Speed was circulating a few 216 litres of coolant per minute, pulling 4700 litres of air through the radiator per second, and using 80 per cent of its prodigious power simply to overcome aero loads.

The advertised 0-62-mph of the Continental GT Speed is 4.2-seconds and the advertised top speed is – you guessed it – 206-mph. While this is similar to the distance between New York and Denver, the speedy run took place on a derestricted stretch between Alice Springs and Barrow Creek.
