Benton Blount sings ‘Story of My Life’ on America’s Got Talent Finale

Benton Blount, whose covers of songs like “The Story of My Life”, “Jolene” and “Fight Song” have wowed the judges all season, probably won’t win it all – but you can bet someone will give him a record deal, and rightfully so. Stern called Vider “a terrific comedian”. The magicians on the stage perform some cool and entertaining tricks. Howie told Piff he faced a tough road with all of the other comedians in the competition. Paul Zerdin the ventriloquist made the crowd and the judges smile throughout his whole performance. This was exceptionally frustrating since nearly every other act did something different or took it to a new level for the finals. Stern disagreed, calling Zerdin “a master at work”.

I’d rather see a magic or comedy act win, but I do think The CraigLewis Band is another frontrunner of the night. Heidi exclaimed the performance was “so much fun”.

Next up was magician Derek Hughes, who performed his version of a classic illusion in which a piece of rope is cut in two and magically put back together. Howard called the performance underwhelming. “Mandel agreed, noting he expected “something epic” for the finale and didn’t think Hughes delivered on that” Mel B agreed, noting the performance “fell flat”.

The Professional Regurgitator had judge Heidi Klum on the edge of her seat, but his act – although truly unique – has a disgusting element that’s hard for most people to, dare I say, digest. Heidi called it a million-dollar act. It could be really close and we could see Drew’s inspirational story kicking in, but what the Regurgitator has going for him mostly is that America is exhausted of the same-old thing. Howard reiterated his past criticism that Lynch threw off his pacing by laughing at his own jokes.

“America’s Got Talent” closes the season Wednesday at a special time of 9-11 p.m. The show will feature encore performances by the “AGT” finalists, accompanied by special guests including pop singer Rachel Platten, magic superstars Penn & Teller, gospel legend Yolanda Adams with the Harlem Gospel Choir, Las Vegas headliner and former “AGT” victor Terry Fator and “AGT” semifinalist Freelusion. I really wanted to like his act.
