Berks Community Health Center hosts health insurance sign-up event

The enrollment deadline is quickly approaching for Mississippians who want their new or updated health insurance coverage through the Federally Facilitated Health Insurance Marketplace to start January 1.

“The Pennsylvania Association of Community Health Centers (PACHC) are able to provide free, personal, no pressure, no obligation, enrollment assistance to individuals seeking the security of health insurance coverage”, stated PACHC.

If you did not have health insurance in 2015, you will be penalized when filing your upcoming tax return.

Consumers should visit healthcare.gov or cuidadodesalud.gov to review their coverage options, learn about what financial assistance is available, or to sign up or re-enroll in a plan that best meets their needs. You can also change your plan choice at any time during the open enrollment period.

Plans for 2016 are affordable, 71 percent of Tennessee enrollees can find plans for $75 or less a month in premiums after tax credits.

So far, about 3 million consumers have selected plans through the federal marketplace website, healthcare.gov, including 150,000 Pennsylvanians, according to the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services. Those who choose to go without health insurance in 2016 may face increased penalties of $695 per person or 2.5 percent of their income.
