Bernie Sanders and ‘SNL’ debut ‘Bern Your Enthusiasm’

Continuing a tradition nearly as old as “Saturday Night Live” itself, Democratic presidential contender Bernie Sanders turned up on the program Saturday night to both be himself and face himself – or a reasonably accurate facsimile of himself.

Larry David and Bernie Sanders are set to appear on Saturday Night Live this weekend, CNN Money reported.

The scene ended happily when it turned out that the boat had actually crashed into the Liberty Island and was already in NY. Indeed in a November Democratic debate, Sanders seemed nearly to be channeling the Curb your Enthusiasm star; asked at one point what he missed the most that technology had made obsolete, he said: “I miss the fact that when I’m in a auto or at home, there are not all kinds of buzzes and noises going off making me a nervous wreck”.

Responded David: “What’s the difference?”

Sanders is the third presidential candidate to make an appearance on the NBC variety comedy show.

Sanders’ campaign embraced their candidate’s appearance on SNL, to say the least.

Bernie Sanders has the Millennial voter base excited.

Sanders said his name was Bernie Sanderswitzky but he was going to change it when he got to America so it wouldn’t sound so Jewish.

Larry David, who has played the senator several times on the show to wide acclaim, will host the episode. Her minor role showed the former First Lady had a sense of humor to go with her political sense. She played Val, a bartender, listening to Kate McKinnon’s Hillary Clinton character complain about how hard it is to run for president.

Playing a fed-up passenger on a crashed sea vessel, Sanders’ character, Bernie Sanderswitzki, chided David’s character for insisting that because of his wealth, he should be allowed to board a lifeboat reserved for women and children.
