Bernie Sanders calls for unity while protesters are arrested
The Florida delegates’ breakfast at the Democratic National Convention is, historically, a warm and inviting introduction to a week-long political love fest. “I’ve been an active Democrat for more than 30 years, and I feel betrayed by my party”.

A devoted follower of Sanders, Boulger’s anger at the system boiled over amid news of the WikiLeaks release of Democratic National Committee emails that appear to show the party working against her candidate.
But Eric Kingson, a Syracuse University professor, didn’t join the defiant jeers against Hillary Clinton from hundreds who came to see Sanders speak Monday afternoon at the Democratic National Convention.
Ending months of bitter rivalry, vanquished presidential hopeful Bernie Sanders (left) declared that Hillary Clinton should become the next president of the United States.
Emails were leaked this past weekend showing DNC officials plotted against Sanders.
Despite the uproar, 90 percent of Sanders supporters are expected to vote for Clinton in November, the Washington Post reports.
But the Vermont senator says he’s going to “do all that I can” to ensure a Hillary Clinton presidency, along with a Democratic Senate and a Democratic House of Representatives.
Georgia Representative Stacey Abrams spoke at the DNC on Monday night.
Versola anticipates that despite the night one theme of “united together”, a roll call vote or other contentions on the floor are possible, despite Sander’s plea to supporters via email, discouraging booing or other defiant actions. Noticeably missing from the delegation’s upper-level seats was Rickey Cole, chairman of the state Democratic Party.
Sanders is trying to calm his supporters, but they are still vocal in and around the convention. “The people that are passionate about the issues he talks about will continue to work together”, Ly said. He was booed by many of his own loyalists when he declared, “we have got to elect Hillary Clinton” in order to defeat Republican nominee Donald Trump.
Outside the convention, more than 50 protesters, many of whom were Sanders supporters, have been arrested.

Sanders sent a mass text message to his supporters in Philadelphia, asking them not to stage protests inside the hall – a message that, at least at the outset, has not been heeded.
