Bernie Sanders, Hillary Clinton still split over debate

Her presidential campaign says Clinton will appear Saturday in Ames, Iowa, with Gabby Giffords, the former Democratic congresswoman from Arizona.

Sanders also added that he was a “very good long distance runner” when he was younger.

“How does Wall Street get away from it?” The letter, made public only a few days ahead of the Iowa caucuses, describes Sanders as weighing 179 pounds-trim!-a blood pressure of 136/81 mmHg-normal!-and a total cholesterol of 196 mg/dL-pretty great, pal!

“We owe it to the people of NH to be at that debate,”O’Malley for President New Hampshire State Director John Bivona said on a Concord radio program this morning”. During the last presidential debate, Sanders pointed to Clinton’s Goldman Sachs speaking fees and took a swipe at Clinton during a Wednesday night event in Mason City, noting that Clinton was raising money at a Philadelphia investment firm while he was campaigning with Iowans.

What the insider Washington Democratic establishment fails to understand is that the issues Sanders raises have great appeal to the broad nation: a free public college education paid for through a Wall Street transaction tax; an increase in Social Security payments (now frozen at least year’s rate for the new year); breaking up big banks and re-instituting reforms initiated by President Franklin Delano Roosevelt; dramatic reforms of the criminal justice system. “That’s giving up before you’ve even tried”, she said. “I want a candidate who has the courage to stand to do the right thing when it is not popular”.

Sanders is trying to upset Clinton in Iowa, where her advantage has narrowed in recent weeks, and then claim victory in New Hampshire, where polls show him with a steady lead in the February 9 primary. Traveling by bus through Iowa, the senator predicted a win in Iowa if the turnout was large but warned if not, “we’re going to be struggling”. “Why is that?” Sanders campaign manager Jeff Weaver said in a statement. Doctors have removed skin tumors, repaired hernias and taken out a cyst from inside his throat.

Politicopoints out that Bernie, who will be 75 on inauguration day, would be the oldest person elected to the presidency. But!
