Bernie Sanders hires Dean pollster
Clinton put the Vermont senator on the defensive at the first debate earlier this month in Las Vegas, challenging his mixed record on gun control and implying that his brand of “democratic socialism” might work in Denmark but not here. “I think it’s time to get rid of corporate greed”. He doesn’t get money from billionaires. I know mine. I have never had any doubt about her intellect or her capacity to debate.

Homan cites Clinton’s 11-hour appearance before the congressional committee investigating the Benghazi attacks.
“She showed she has the guts to stand up to the Republican questions”, Homan says. State representative Scott Ourth of Ackworth was waiting to see how the field shaped up.
“Some people have written that, you know, Beau on his death bed said, “Dad, you’ve got to run, ‘ and, there was this sort of ‘Hollywood moment” that – you know, nothing like that ever, ever happened”, Biden said. “To my mind, I think the evidence is very, very clear that that legislation was anti-gay legislation, it was playing off the fears of a lot of Americans”.
“The only reason to run is because…”
Iowa Democratic Party chair Andy McGuire says she’s not surprised by the vigorous contest that’s underway.
“I’ve said from the beginning that I don’t know whether our ability to deal with the loss of Beau would reach a point where we could do that before time ran out”, he said. Last night, Biden sat down with 60 Minutes and talked through his decision to stay out of the race, especially in the wake of the death of his son, Beau.
Sanders reiterated his respect for Clinton in an interview with CNN’s “State of the Union” but said voters should see their differences.
He said if Biden wants an active retirement, a university president’s job would seem to be a significant step down in terms of prestige.
“There are so many families and individuals in this country with stories about how Hillary Clinton’s kind words, friendship or record of service have changed their lives for the better, and they are sick and exhausted of all the lies that are told about her by the far right and the media”, said David Brock, founder of Correct The Record.
“I’m disappointed Biden isn’t running”, Matt Binder, president of UD Democrats, said. “It would be a marvelous thing to have the first woman president”.

He jabbed Clinton on her 2002 Senate vote to authorize the Iraq War and her recently declared opposition to a vast pan-Pacific trade pact she championed as secretary of state, drawing deafening cheers from thousands of his supporters. That leaves activists speculating about just how close the race will be long haul. They wonder if Clinton and Sanders will be duking it out well into the nomination season the way Clinton and Obama did eight years ago.
