She told CNN’s Chris Cuomo that between praising Kim Jong Un, calling to withdraw from North Atlantic Treaty Organisation, and him seeming content with more nations having nuclear weapons, “the kinds of positions he is stating and the consequences of those positions–and even the consequences of his statements–are not just offensive to people, they are potentially risky”. “It’s the Supreme Court”.
But many Democratic leaders called for Sanders to do more, including others rumored to be on the Clinton VP shortlist. Sanders has railed in particular against the role of superdelegates – elected and party officials who are automatically delegates to the convention – and to “closed” primaries in which independents aren’t allowed to vote.
Saturday night, supporters of Bernie Sanders accused party leadership of rigging the convention in favor of Hillary Clinton’s delegates, and the event was shut down early amid escalating disorder. “I’ve never had anything like this happen”.
Sanders took several shots at Trump, including a dig at recent reports Casino magnate Sheldon Adelson will spend up to $100 million on his campaign.
“There’s a tremendous amount of frustration out there and people want to have a fair process”, Weaver said on CNN.
Still, if the election came down to Clinton and Trump, supporters were divided over whether they’d vote for Clinton or write in a different candidate.
Asked if she thought Sanders should quit in June, Mikulski said: “My feeling is follow the rules …”
On Tuesday, Clinton won the Democratic presidential primary in the U.S. state of Kentucky with a razor-thin margin, while Sanders won the primary in the state of Oregon. Sanders won OR, a state that played to his strengths.
The Vermont senator has pledged to take his campaign all the way to the Democratic National Convention in July, a move that has angered Clinton allies and party leaders who want Clinton to focus on Trump. Her campaign manager, Robby Mook, said Clinton was grateful for Nevadans who participated in the process but that no one should be intimidated, harassed or threatened.
Looking ahead to the general election, Mrs Clinton also asserted that she “will be the nominee for my party”, noting her lead in delegates and votes over Democratic opponent Bernie Sanders.

While Clinton is expected to win the party nomination, Tuesday’s divided outcome means she is still more than 100 delegates short of sealing the deal and so can not yet turn her attention fully to the general election and taking on presumptive Republican nominee Donald Trump. It sucks. But I did the right thing for the party.
