Bernie Sanders Is Going On ‘The Ellen Show’

The majority of the posts on BernieSanders.com no longer listed events involving only the senator: There was a volunteer rally in Littleton, door knocking in Nashua and canvassing in Claremont, Hudson, Salem and Berlin.

This was not my first experience with Bernie. “She probably would have done a good job taking care of the country, but I think things need to turn around a bit more drastically”. An estimated 20,000 people (including yours truly) attended his speech.

“You guys are the true believers”, Sanders said, addressing those in the dark outside who gave him a celebrity’s welcome after his hour and half speech inside the arena.

Sanders, who has won elections only in a white, rural state, thinks his brand of bold democratic socialism can sell. I was less than amused when the MC told the crowd, “We’re 10 minutes behind schedule and that’s your fault”. Jim O’Brien, president of the Boston Carmen’s Union, Local 589, was one of several Boston-area speakers to warm up the crowd before Sanders’ remarks.

Conservative Sen. Ted Cruz, R-Texas, has made a similar argument – that his party can win, with no changes to its message, if voters that are more evangelical are inspired to come out. Given the MBTA’s poor performance during last winter’s record snowfall, there isn’t a whole lot of public sympathy for the T even among Sanders’ supporters.

In his address Saturday night, Sanders promised to push for free tuition at all public universities and for people to be able to refinance their student loans.

The 2016 presidential race is already heating up in western Massachusetts. The vast majority came in small donations – Sanders’ average contribution is less than $25. “I oppose, at this point, a unilateral American no-fly zone in Syria, which could get us more deeply involved in that frightfulcivil war and lead to a never-ending USAentanglement in that region”. It seems to me that people in America and China are imprisoned for very different reasons.

The Sanders camp admits he’s going to face tough questions on the topic, but argue that in context he can defend his votes and say he has a lifetime D-minus rating from the NRA.

Seventy-year-old Eileen Wilkinson says she was glad to hear Sanders stick up for social security and health care. “Now’s the time for Wall Street to help the American middle class”, he added. “Think about that for a moment”. With this in mind, I suspect Sanders would prefer that the Supreme Court act as a rubber stamp for his whims than a body that holds him in check.

“This time young people have an issue that’s been fairly prominent, that both candidates are emphasizing, that matters to them”, said University of New Hampshire political science professor Dante Scala said. Absent a crystal ball, none of Sanders’ proposals would have prevented what happened last week in Oregon. (He also has taken mixed positions on gun control, supporting a ban on assault rifles, for instance, but opposing the Brady Bill). “And, most of all, he is authentic and believable”.

“I realize how much of a fight this is going to be if he’s to become president”. Joe Manchin, D-W.Va., who has endorsed Clinton, said that Sanders’ economics-first focus makes sense in West Virginia. Why do we want four more years of it?

BARACK OBAMA: You have to make sure that anybody who you are voting for is on the right side of this issue.

Sanders won elections in Vermont, a white, rural and gun-owning state, as a socialist.

In 2004, young voters represented just 14 percent of the electorate.
