Q: What is a superdelegate?

Ten unpledged party leader and elected official (PLEO) delegates, which includes the Gov. Jack Markell, members of Congress, Delawarean members of the Democratic National Committee and other distinguished party leaders.

On Tuesday night, as election results from the IN primary were coming IN, Sanders included some of those barbs IN his stump speech to an enthusiastic crowd of 7,000 IN Louisville, Kentucky at a park near the water.

Q: What spurred the creation of superdelegates?

Delaware Democrats are meeting to elect their 2016 Pledged National Convention Delegation.

Clinton won his district and that’s why he is expected to commit to her.

But under the new system, Democrats experienced crushing losses, first in 1972 when nominee George McGovern lost all but one state to Nixon, and in 1980 when incumbent Jimmy Carter was defeated by Republican Ronald Reagan. The Republicans had appeared for weeks to be headed for a contested convention, but Mr. Trump is now the presumptive nominee. He’s up to – some polls have him beating Hillary Clinton, some just losing by 1 or 2 (percent).

“There are going to be Democrats who are going to increasingly ask: ‘Why is he doing this?” Chuck Schumer and Kirsten Gillibrand. But Democratic chairman Phil Bartlett says he isn’t anxious.

Bernie Sanders on Saturday cut into Hillary Clinton’s Democratic delegate lead, picking up 49 of the 67 delegates awarded at Washington state’s Democratic state convention while Clinton won the Guam caucus. So then it does come down to superdelegates.

If Sanders hopes to overtake her based on just those primary and caucus delegates, he still must win 66 percent of the remaining delegates – a figure unchanged from before. She now has a total of 2,224 delegates, or 93% of the 2,383 delegates needed to win. “We think we have an excellent chance to win it”, Sanders said in an interview with Eyewitness News. Barack Obama of IL was leading Clinton by 1,529 delegates to 1,424 and there were already calls for her to leave the race, according to CNN.

VermontSen. Bernie Sanders isn’t opposed to the idea of being Hillary Clinton’s running mate – if she offered him the job.

Sanders has amassed some 9 million votes during the nation’s primaries and caucuses, and has said even if he fails at getting the final nomination, he wants to shape the party’s agenda on issues like wealth disparity, financial reform and the role of big money in politics.
