Clinton’s campaign believes Trump’s unorthodox candidacy will turn off moderate Republicans, particularly women, who worry he’s too unpredictable to take the helm in a turbulent world. The vice president told the Democratic National Convention in Philadelphia that he’s known as “middle-class Joe” in the nation’s capital – and he says that’s not a compliment. The election is on November 8. “I ask you to carry her the same way you carried me”, Mr Obama said.
At the end of his powerful 45-minute speech, Clinton joined him on stage, prompting deafening cheers from the thousands of convention delegates and guests packed into a Philadelphia sports arena to hear the president’s address. It culminated with Clinton making a surprise appearance on stage to greet Obama with a long embrace, an nearly unimaginable image eight years ago when they battled for the Democratic nomination. After winning that election to become America’s first black president, he appointed her his secretary of state, which he said gave him a “front-row seat to her intelligence, her judgment and her discipline”.
Obama belittled the Republican flagbearer as having no economic or foreign policy plans.
The president, in a speech that varied between stubborn optimism and startlingly fierce attacks, tried to rebut Trump’s allegations throughout his campaign that America has fallen from its former glory. She will lead the Democrats against Republican nominee Trump.
“Our country does not feel “great already” to the millions of wonderful people living in poverty, violence and despair”, he wrote on Twitter. “America is already strong, and our greatness does not depend on Donald Trump”.
“Preach!” members of the crowd shouted. O’Reilly said Obama was right, but his “well-fed” comment created a social media storm.
After his convention Trump got a boost in opinion polls.
Clinton’s backers unleashed a litany of criticism of Trump Wednesday, with Kaine blasting him as “a slick-talking, empty-promising, self-promoting, one-man wrecking crew” and Obama calling him a demagogue.
In the White House, she will stand up to the gun lobby.
Ashford Hughes, an aide in Nashville Mayor Megan Barry’s office and Clinton delegate, said “it was an exciting speech – he talked about what we have done”. The vice president also spoke and after, told ABC7’s sister station in Philadelphia what Clinton needs to say Thursday night. “How can there be pleasure in saying ‘you’re fired?'”
By the middle of next week, if the normal rules of politics apply, we’ll see the effect: a clear bounce for Clinton. “That’s a bunch of malarkey!”
Viewership of Clinton’s speech on Fox News Channel was less than a third of what it was for Trump’s address, Nielsen said.
“This isn’t reality television, this is reality”, Bloomberg said, referencing Trump’s former job hosting a show on NBC.
‘I honestly don’t know numerous people there.
New York Sen. Chuck Schumer praised the role of women in politics at the EMILY’s List event.
Trump has hammered Clinton as untrustworthy and cast America as a place where security threats abound and law and order are breaking down.
The president criticized Trump’s campaign, which has included proposals to build a wall at the U.S.-Mexican border and preventing Muslims from entering the country.

And while she must play to the party’s base – and seek to soothe bruised Sanders supporters – her mission in part will be to appeal to crossover voters and independents wary of the prospect of a Trump presidency.
