In a message to supporters before her speech Mrs Clinton said: “If there are any little girls out there staying up late to watch, I may become the first woman president but one of you is next”.

After an unruly start in Philadelphia, the second day of the Democratic National Convention aimed to unify Hillary Clinton and Bernie Sanders supporters. Certainly that should be enough of an accomplishment to get her face on the front page of more of the country’s daily newspapers.
But Gwen Young, Director of the Global Women’s Leadership Initiative at Wilson Center, depicts Clinton’s nomination as a tremendous step forward for gender equality and a landmark moment in history. He built up to the notion that even though Hillary Clinton has been around for a long time, she is the “best darn change-maker I have ever known”. “So I can see what he’s doing is not, I don’t think he is saying she is going to exactly do that, I think he’s saying she better do that”, Silva said.
Actresses Shailene Woodley and Rosario Dawson, who are die-hard Sanders supporters, attend the Democratic National Convention.
But she stood up for the good of the party.
Clinton has made gun safety a foundation of her presidential campaign, vowing to push for expanded criminal background checks and a renewal of a ban on assault weapons.
The delegate count was close in Iowa, with 23 pledged delegates going to Clinton and 21 to Sanders.
Former US president Bill Clinton used personal anecdotes to soften the image of his wife Hillary Clinton as he endorsed her as the strongest candidate for the White House. “So numerous things that you fought for are now in the Democratic Party platform: $15 minimum wage, overturning Citizens United, claiming your Hacky Sack as a dependent – it’s all in there”.
US President Barack Obama on Thursday said that in eight years of his presidency, he has aged but not his “brilliant wife” Michelle who continues to “inspire” the nation as the First Lady.
The Wall Street Journal initially ran a photo of the former president but switched in later editions to a photo of Hillary Clinton speaking on a giant screen in the arena once one became available.
It is the nature of democracy that until the votes are cast, and the American people have their say, we don’t know [who will win]. Indeed, we saw this at play even on Tuesday night when many all but forgot to acknowledge what Clinton has managed to accomplish by virtue of just winning the nomination.
“We just put the biggest crack in that glass ceiling yet”, a smiling Clinton declared as she made a surprise appearance on video at night’s end, to the roar of delegates. She said she is prepared to support her party’s nominee.

On Wednesday night he’ll set the stakes for this election to make the case for another history-making nominee – Hillary Clinton. Two Sanders delegates from High Point, Joshua “Fox” Brown and Chris Gallagher Ekstedt, walked out with the protesters.
