Bernie Sanders’ pro-marijuana stance flabbergasts student

During 2014, there were 620,000 arrests for marijuana possession, amounting to one arrest per minute, with black Americans facing a severe disadvantage.

Sanders says students of over “300 colleges from every state in the union” tuned into the town hall.

It was a reference to Clinton’s implicit suggestion that Sanders’ use of the word “shouting” when criticizing strident supporters and opponents of gun control was meant as an attack on her gender.

Sanders finds these numbers appalling, too, and he thinks it’s time we do something to change this.

Sanders has the lowest “grade” – an F – on SAM’s candidate scorecard out of any presidential candidate in either the Republican or Democratic party.

Under Sanders’ proposal, states would be free to legalize marijuana without the threat of federal prosecution, but federal agents would still be empowered to arrest and prosecute people involved in illegal sales.

“At the end of the day, the VA provides high-quality health care for the veterans that are able to get into the system”, Sanders said. Most of the others say that at this point, they aren’t sure whom they would support if their favored candidate left the race.

A recent ABC News/Washington Post poll found that though Democratic front runner Hillary Clinton still leads among voters under 30 years old at 48 percent, Sanders has seen the biggest gains among young voters. Despite equal usage of cannabis by white and black Americans, if you are black, you are four times more likely to be arrested for the possession of marijuana.

Other Democratic presidential contenders, as well as almost half the Republican field, have said they are willing to let states that have chosen to legalize marijuana, including Colorado, Washington, Oregon, Alaska, and Washington DC, continue to do so.

Sanders’ main rival for the nomination, Hillary Clinton, has expressed support for decriminalizing marijuana and allowing access to it for medical purposes, but she’s shied away from taking a stance on full-fledged legalization.

Meeting at the vice president’s home at the Naval Observatory in Washington, D.C, Sanders and Biden spoke for about an hour to discuss numerous issues that are plaguing the nation. However, his proposal was not a call for the drug to be legalized throughout the whole country.

“I look forward to working with President Obama and Vice President Biden to tackle a few to the major issues facing our country”, Sanders said on Thursday.
