Bernie Sanders Reverses Course on Gun Immunity Vote

Neal also said he’s not too surprised by the apparent closeness of the race between Clinton and Sanders. “The problem though for Clinton is that she’s moved to the left to guarantee that she gets the nomination which might make it a little bit harder for her to move back to the right or to the center in the general election”.

“Iowa is critical for Sanders as he’s expected to win New Hampshire so if he does win there, it’s kind of a shrug”, said Hagle.

In the past two weeks, the Democratic race has gone from a relatively civil disagreement over policy to a contentious winter competition between former Secretary of State Clinton and Vermont Sen.

Sanders rides the surge into the states that will hold the first contests to determine who will represent the party in the November presidential election.

Clinton, who called into “Morning Joe” for her first appearance on the show of the cycle, said that she is different from the woman who ran for president in 2008 and said her campaign is being run better. Recent polls show that her once-formidable lead over Sanders in Iowa has all but vanished, while he is holding on to a slight lead over her in New Hampshire.

But in a campaign that has seen billionaire Donald Trump rise to the top of the Republican presidential field by capitalizing on an electorate angry with the political establishment, Clinton may once again be embracing the mantle of experience at a time when outsider status is in vogue.

“Chill out”, John Podesta, Clinton’s campaign manager, tweeted at Brock.

“The campaign on Wednesday accused Clinton of flip-flopping on her stand that Democrats attacking each other’s health plans “undermined core Democratic values” and gave “‘aid and comfort” to the special interests and “their allies in the Republican Party”. And, as the chairperson feared when she scheduled only six Democratic debates (as opposed to 26 Democratic debates for the 2008 campaign), the more people who are exposed to Sanders, the more his poll numbers go up.

Clinton also said Sanders’ single-payer healthcare proposal would likely require a tax hike on the middle class, saying in an interview this week with MSNBC’s Rachel Maddow that Sanders’ single-payer plan would “dismantle healthcare as we know it”.

Clinton criticized Sanders for his opposition to bills backed by supporters of gun control.

Sanders for his part has also turned up the heat on the former Secretary of State and released a TV spot Thursday that appeared to take a shot at Hillary Clinton’s record on Wall Street. “As I have said for many months now, we need to look at the underlying law and tighten it up”.

Sanders’ central campaign theme is inequality.

Clinton is not under investigation by the bureau, and is not the subject of any criminal investigation, but her use of the private server – instead of a more deeply encrypted government account – set off what’s known as security referral, or inquiry into the location of certain pieces of classified information.

“She can’t be president if you don’t nominate her. And if you do nominate her, I don’t think they can stop her from becoming president”, Bill Clinton said. Sanders is from Vermont, where hunting is popular and most of the residents are reluctant about stricter gun controls.
