Bernie Sanders says Hillary Clinton faces ‘contested convention’

“At the end of the day, he’s not going to want to be the skunk at the garden party”. “Kasich is a good an honorable man, but he doesn’t have a path to win”.

Mr. Sanders’ pitch comes at a point in the race where even he has acknowledged a very narrow patch to winning the nomination and has talked publicly about a secondary goal of shaping the Democratic Party’s platform.

Bernie Sanders vows that the Democratic convention in Philadelphia will be “contested”.

With several state primaries yet to go, Clinton and Trump have emerged as the clear frontrunners for the nomination in their respective parties. There is also little doubt that the voters who supported Bernie Sanders will never support Donald Trump, who is the opposite of everything that they believe in.

So far, superdelegates who have publicly declared their allegiances have sided with Ms. Clinton in overwhelming numbers – 520 to 39, according to the latest Associated Press tally that Mr. Sanders cited in his remarks Sunday.

Now, the Sanders camp has said it would fight to switch over the superdelegates to his side, arguing that he’s the better candidate to fight Donald Trump in a presidential election.

Sanders and his campaign officials have said that the layoffs were an effort to consolidate resources to focus on the remaining states.

“I do not deny it for a second”, he said. “I told my husband he’s got to come out of retirement and be in charge of this because, you know, he’s got more ideas a minute that anybody I know”, Hillary Clinton said. “It’s a sound bite”, Trump said.

Sanders is also calling Clinton’s fundraising “money laundering”, showing no signs of giving up so far. Clinton was favored to win the state in the polls leading up to Tuesday although the matchup remained close until the moment polls closed. “And we’re going to take him on at every turn on what’s really important to the people of our country”. “I think I’m entitled to those superdelegates”, Sanders said.

Sanders now has 1,318 delegates to Clinton’s 1,645 delegates; he also lags behind Clinton in super delegates-30 to 530.

But more see the Democratic Party as divided now than said so in March.

Mr. Sanders’ take, raised nearly entirely online, fell about $20 million short of the $46 million he posted in March.

But Mr. Sanders has emerged as the biggest-spending candidate in the race, and his April total is not enough to maintain his pace of spending on television ads and other facets of the race. On Tuesday, Sanders lost in four eastern state primaries to Clinton.

Clinton, in Indianapolis, did not bother mentioning Sanders’ name. She does contend that the policies of all the Republican candidates are similar.

As she does routinely at largely African-American events, Clinton touted her closeness to Obama, her one-time rival. Ted Cruz for wanting to “slash taxes on the wealthy” and for using “dangerous” rhetoric about Muslims. While Trump and Clinton are only 6 points apart, Cruz is 14 points behind Clinton in a theoretical match-up.

“Tonight’s results are not going to alter Gov. Kasich’s campaign plans”.

“We deserve leaders who will tear down barriers, not build walls between us”, Clinton added.
