Bernie Supporters March Day Before Democratic Convention

The head of the Democratic National Committee is resigning after several private emails were released that suggested the DNC was biased toward Hillary Clinton over Bernie Sanders during the 2016 primary election.

Sanders is cast in the memo repeatedly as a kind of youth-whisperer for the Democratic Party and for Clinton, who struggled in the primary to win over young progressive voters. Some were dismayed by her choice of Sen. Tim Kaine of Virginia as her running mate. “The party leadership must also always remain impartial in the presidential nominating process, something which did not occur in the 2016 race”, he said. “In terms of trust, you can’t trust a word I think that Mr. Trump has to say”.

“We shouldn’t be fearful, we’re Americans”, delegate Patti Norkiewicz of Florida told AFP, after Mr Trump, accepting his party’s nomination in Cleveland, offered a dark vision of a nation besieged by chaos and violence.

The party establishment wants to protect its perks, and so Sanders’ proposal ran into trouble in the convention rules committee.

The Wells Fargo Center, home to the NHL’s Philadelphia Flyers and the NBA’s Philadelphia 76ers, is the convention site. The arena has been transformed with stages, platforms, cameras and lights. Two other women have served in the role but were appointed.

More than 5,000 delegates are among the 50,000 people set to be in Philadelphia.

Hillary Clinton “felt sad” watching a Republican National Convention that was mostly about “criticizing me”, she said an interview aired Sunday night on CBS’ “60 Minutes”.

“I seem to be the only unifying theme that they had”, the presumptive Democratic nominee said. He said there is talk among Sanders’ delegates of walking out during Kaine’s acceptance speech or turning their backs as a show of protest.

Her lead was virtually insurmountable in May – which is when an email got sent from one party official wondering whether someone should slur Sanders as an atheist before votes in the Bible belt.

On Sunday, Clinton’s new vice presidential pick, Sen.

Warren is known for her fiery edges, particularly when going after Wall Street and big banks, and is a favorite of the party’s liberal base. Cory Booker, New York Mayor Bill de Blasio and House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi. Confirmed celebrities include Kareem Abdul Jabbar, Snoop Dog, Demi Lovato, Lady Gaga, Eva Longoria and America Ferrera. Fergie will perform at The Creative Coalition’s gala.

Perez said being a delegate is more than voting for a candidate, it also is a way to highlight issues constituents of each district believe are important for a potential president to address. It’s a high point for Sanders delegates; they’re pushing to have their votes fully tallied.

Who will be this year’s Barack Obama?

Sanders says he favors a state-by-state roll call, but he hasn’t indicated exactly what he will do.

There’s a total of 4,763 delegates.

Clinton arrives in Philadelphia with 2,814 delegates to Sanders’ 1,893, according to an Associated Press count. This year, those superdelegates overwhelmingly backed Clinton.

“This requires constant scrutiny to make sure that the DNC stays the neutral player it must be in party contests”. “Out of that has sprung some, if not much of, Hillary’s commitment to children and what they are owed and deserved”, said Verveer.

It would also be a break with Sanders’ pre-campaign persona, when he was best known by his supporters and those in Washington as the guy who flew the middle seat in coach.
