Fiorentina director general Andrea Rogg reveals they are down to “formalities” for Mario Gomez’s move to Besiktas.
Such reports were, however, deemed unlikely by many including German football journalist Raphael Honigstein (via talkSPORT) and Gomez has now joined Besiktas, who actually knocked Liverpool out of the Europa League last season.
Gomez, 30, has won 60 caps for Germany in an illustrious career, although he missed Germany’s 2014 World Cup triumph due to injury.
The 30-year-old has suffered a frustrating two-year spell with the Viola after arriving from Bundesliga giants Bayern Munich in 2013, but is now set to leave Florence to sign a lucrative contract with the Turkish Super Lig side.
Fiorentina also expect the transfer for Gomez to be completed imminently and are already looking at ways to strengthen their attack ahead of next season.

His compatriot Lukas Podolski has joined reigning champions Galatasaray while Dutchman Robin van Persie and Portugal’s Nani both signed for 19-time winners Fenerbahce from Manchester United.
