Bethesda May Release NX Games But Unsure At The Moment

Bethesda also has “two games the size of Fallout 4 and Oblivion” in the works, but they are so far a secret.

Bethesda’s Pete Hines, vice-president of Bethesda Softworks, recently spoke with finder.com.au about the company’s position regarding the Nintendo NX. The Bethesda executive answered the question by declaring that he and his company haven’t ruled it out yet, but it’s still a case of determining if the studio’s products would be the right fit for the in-development Nintendo platform.

Hines talked about the possibility at Quakecon, where he confirmed that they talk to Nintendo a great deal, but the NX has to be technically fit to run Bethesda games.

“The NX is absolutely on our radar and something that we’re looking at, but it’s always a game-by-game, developer-by-developer evaluation”, Hines said. Taking this into consideration, it’s safe to presume that the lack of games from third-parties was definitely one of the factors involved in the Wii U’s struggle to move units. “But it’s too early to say, ‘We’ll definitely be putting games out or not.’ Like with mobile, we want to have the right fit for the right formats”.

With Nintendo’s NX console scheduled to come out early next year, fans might be wondering what kind of third-party support they can expect.

While Hines seems to be more personally receptive to Rage, there is something to be said about the universe created by Shinji Mikami with The Evil Within. With the NX coming out, will Bethesda skip another Nintendo console? Nintendo is still silent about their upcoming console’s specs but reports have already claimed that the Nintendo NX will only be powered by NVIDIA’s Tegra processor.
