Bets are on Trump winning required delegates before convention

“Hillary Clinton has not gone around insulting people, entire ethnicities”.

“I’m not out to stop Donald Trump”.

The brawl that’s been the 2016 presidential campaign is entering its final round, and it looks increasingly like we’ll know the two contenders who will face off in the autumn title bout. But only four years later, the Republicans won the White House. Ted Cruz, who is fighting him not only at the ballot box but in state-by-state delegate skirmishes; and Ohio Gov. John Kasich. Mr Trump asked during his victory speech.

Proffitt said she can be swayed by arguments at the convention, but she also defended the deal between Kasich and Cruz.

About 3 of 5 voters in the Democratic primary favored Clinton on that issue.

That Cruz and Kasich have joined forces merely illustrates what a paper tiger the “Never Trump” movement has been.

The last two have no mathematical path to reach the 1,237 delegate count before the GOP Convention in Cleveland in July. The next crucial primary is scheduled in IN next Tuesday where Cruz and Trump have entered into a strategic alliance to prevent Trump from getting the required delegates. Trump also declared himself the GOP’s presumptive nominee. At a rally in the Hoosier State as Tuesday’s results were coming in, Cruz acknowledged Trump was “expected to have a good night” and dismissed what he said would be a rush by the media to crown Trump the nominee. “Senator Cruz and Governor Kasich really should get out of the race”.

Similarly, on the Democratic side, the AP shows Clinton with 1,618 pledged delegates to 1,267 for Bernie Sanders.

She applauded Sanders for challenging Democrats to focus on campaign finance accountability and closing the income gap.

“I call her crooked Hillary because she’s crooked and the only thing she’s got is the woman card”, he said on Fox News. It’s a weak card in her hands.

In the second and subsequent votes, most of the convention’s 2,472 delegates would be released to support whomever they want. In one key line in her speech, she made a direct pitch to “thoughtful Republicans”.

“We will unify our party to win this election and build an America where we can all rise together”. If liberal bogeyman Charles Koch can entertain notions of supporting Mrs Clinton, this may not be too wild-eyed a hope.

To boost her image among reluctant Democrats and others considering her, Clinton has almost stopped criticizing her challenger, Vermont Sen. The months of campaigning and the millions of dollars and TV hours have brought the contest to the doorstep of the Midwest.

The layoffs come at a time when the path to victory for Sanders is all but closed off. He must win 73 percent of the remaining delegates to clinch the Democratic nomination.

As for Trump’s claim that women “don’t like” Clinton, he’s wrong at the very least about Democratic primary voters. When it was more hard for them to cast their ballots, his numbers declined.

Clinton aimed to emerge from Tuesday’s contests on the brink of becoming the first woman nominated by a major party.

Trump at the time was angered that some delegates from states he won would not be bound to vote for him at the convention. There was no need to. Ted Cruz, who has already notched big wins in other Midwestern states, including Iowa and Wisconsin. John Kasich was mathematically eliminated from doing so.

Trump trounced his opponents, Texas Sen. If recent results are any indication, however, it seems unlikely that he will be up to the task. Marco Rubio were better candidates than the OH governor. It was sustained in March by a win in his home state of Ohio.

“Gov. Kasich is on the ballot in OR, and the campaign will do its part to educate voters about why they should vote for him the primary”, Kasich spokesperson Chris Schrimpf told CNN in a statement.
