The 70-year-old comedian was commenting on the fact that Jenner’s TV documentary I Am Cait has been cancelled after just two series due to low ratings. “The issue wasn’t making a joke about Caitlyn Jenner, but in referring to her as “him”.
Bette has since offered an apology directed towards LGBT charity Human Rights Campaign, where she appeared to pass her tweet off as “comedy” and called it an “idle musing”. “Do I smell a re-wedding?!” she said. “Sorry last tweet offended”.
Bette’s apology received a mixed response, with some accepting it and others suggesting the actress was still unaware of the major error she had made in her initial tweet.
She followed up with another since-deleted post: “Will Kris take him back?”
Olympic Gold medalist Caitlyn Jenner has been dogged by rumours that her transition was for publicity since she first came out at transgender.
“This shows a fundamental misunderstanding of what it means to be transgender”.
Even the Divine Bette Midler can be brought to Earth by inappropriate Twitter talk. Midler, who has always been a champion of the LGBT community, questioned Jenner’s conservative Republican views. “Regardless of gender identity, I guess she identifies most as ‘uninformed'”.

She told a fringe event at the GOP Convention: “I want to help the Republican Party in so many ways”.
