It’s time to reach it, or else the Red Sox’s long-term view of right field could change this winter. RHP Rick Porcello (5-10) is slated to start for the Red Sox against White Sox LHP Jose Quintana (5-9) on Wednesday.

Overall, Victorino has hit.

It wasn’t really that bad of an idea as far as stopgap solutions.

After climbing back over the wall, Betts ran nearly all the way off the field before sitting down on the grass in front of the Red Sox’ dugout and complaining of “light-headedness”, according to Farrell.

One can’t blame Boston’s roster crunch for Castillo’s inability to take the next step. During his press conference, an understandably emotional Victorino broke down in tears when talking about his love for his teammates, as well as when he mentioned he’d have to change his walk-up song “Three Little Birds”, which turned into an anthem for Red Sox Nation at Fenway Park.

Nolan Arenado had a two-run double, and Nick Hundley added a run-scoring groundout in the first against Dallas Beeler (0-1).

Confused? So were a lot of people.

Betts was initially credited with catching the ball while twisting his body and hitting the wall with his lower back, then flipping over and landing in the bullpen.

With two outs in the sixth and Adam Eaton on first, Abreu hit a deep drive to right center. Problem was, Betts jumped too high, with his butt clearing the top of the wall and carrying the rest of him into the bullpen backward. White Sox manager Robin Ventura challenged the call and after the umpires reviewed the play, the out was overturned into a HOME RUN.

Soto made it an 8-2 game with Justin Masterson’s first pitch of the seventh inning, with the ball clearing the Monster and breaking a windshield before the Red Sox broadcast returned from its commercial break.

It was a split second from being one of the best catches ever seen.

The only question was whether Samardzija could go the distance, and the Red Sox at least thwarted that. Samardzija’s eighth victory of the season was never in question, though.

With a single, two doubles and a triple Tuesday, Cabrera had his sixth straight multihit game, the best streak for a White Sox hitter since Jermaine Dye had six straight in 2009.

Rockies 7, Cubs 2: D.J. LeMahieu had three hits and scored twice to help Colorado win at Wrigley Field in its first game after trading Troy Tulowitzki.

Dodgers lefty Brett Anderson (5-5, 3.33 ERA) is scheduled to face his former team in an interleague home game against Oakland ace Sonny Gray (10-4, 2.30). Gordon Beckham couldn’t even claim that (0-for-5).
