Betty the tweeting chicken going for Guinness World Record

This is one of those stories where the headline says it all, really.

An Australian chicken shop has got an actual chicken tweeting from its account.

“Betty’s always been an extraordinary chicken”, the YouTube video states over images of the hen pecking away at a keyboard. A chicken learning to use Twitter.

Chicken Treat said in a statement that “she will become the first chicken (and in all likelihood the first animal) to send a real tweet”. The Guinness Book of World Records is poised to recognise her as the “First Chicken to Send a Tweet” if she manages to send a five-letter tweet in English within 30 days.

So far, Betty hasn’t proven to be anywhere near The Bard, as these examples of a few of her tweets show.

“We taught Betty computer basics using a specially-designed chicken puppet”, the video claims.

This is absolutely vintage Betty – loads of letters, numbers, spaces and symbolsReally exploring those punctuation keys hereKeeping it succinct, and getting straight to the pointAnd then her first word. Bum. It definitely reminds you of the Infinite Monkey Theorem about how a monkey sitting at a typewriter for an infinite period of time could eventually type out the complete works of Shakespeare by simple happenstance.
