Monique Pressley says the charge by the Montgomery County district attorney’s office in Pennsylvania was no surprise.
More than 50 woman have come forward over the years, but Wednesday’s charge is related to one single case in which Andrea Constand is the alleged victim.
Bill Cosby’s attorney says a sexual assault charge is unjustified and that the comedian will be exonerated following a vigorous defence.
Undermining an accuser’s credibility could be central to Cosby’s defense, said Tom Mesereau, a California defense lawyer who represented Michael Jackson in his successful defense against sex crime charges.
She blasts the question on whether she got him drugs, saying clearly she never once procured sedatives for her husband. “She’ll do whatever they request of her”.
Cosby also faces defamation and sexual-abuse lawsuits filed in Massachusetts, Los Angeles and Pennsylvania.
I am not stopped I go into the area that is somewhere between permission and rejection. Over the next three decades, the Philadelphia-born comic created TV’s animated “Fat Albert” and the top-rated “Cosby Show”, the 1980s sitcom celebrated as groundbreaking television for its depiction of a warm and loving family headed by two black professionals – one a lawyer, the other a doctor.
“Even before the charges yesterday [there were victims], some of whom said they would be prepared to testify but just didn’t want to public before that time, and since yesterday I’ve had even more contacts from even more women”, Allred told the Today Show.
Bruce L. Castor Jr., then the Montgomery County district attorney, examined the claim but declined to arrest Cosby, citing insufficient evidence to support any charge.
Constand, who is now 42 and lives in Toronto, welcomed the charges, said her lawyer, Dolores Troiani.
At the time, Castor was running against Steele for the district attorney position.
They could tell a jury what happened to them to make the woman accusing Cosby appear more credible, and to establish a pattern of behaviour. Chloe Goins alleges Cosby drugged and molested her at the Playboy Mansion when she was a minor.
But a decade later, investigators reopened the case after a judge unsealed depositions from a civil suit Constand filed where Cosby admitted to giving drugs to women.
Prosecutors said the release of court documents in July and the subsequent release of the deposition had in part led to the reopening of the case.
“The man I met and fell in love with, and whom I continue to love, is the man you all knew through his work”, she said in a statement past year.
Camille contends she wasn’t present during any of the alleged incidents and anything she heard would be second hand knowledge or from a private conversations with her husband. “I am not stopped”.
He said Constand was not upset when she left that night.

She continued: “That’s his status now, 12 years later, but he is in good spirits and he has confidence in his legal team’s ability to bring about justice for him in this case”.
