“Beyoncé is a go”, a source tells Page Six about Cooper’s directorial debut.

She was originally being considered in 2011 and told Good Morning America: ‘Clint Eastwood? “He’s out to find the rest of the cast, but he may take another acting role. He’s furiously making everything he can”. Judy and Barbra were already successful actresses before taking on their respective version of “A Star is Born”.

Sadly, the film isn’t even in the early filming stages yet, and we shouldn’t expect to see it until late next year – or even early 2017. The film was first made in 1937 with Janet Gaynor and Fredric March.

After American Sniper raked in more than $US350 million at the box office, Cooper impressed critics on Broadway in The Elephant Man, then landed in two underperforming movies. Does Bradley Cooper – the film’s director – fear the movie will be a major flop with Bey in the lead role?

“She wants to land leading roles in movies and has been taking classes in NY and L.A. for the past year”, an insider revealed in the new issue of Us Weekly. The original 1954 film starred Judy Garland though the 1976 campy remake, starring Barbara Streisand and Kris Kristofferson, is likely the most famous iteration of the story.

For Beyonce, the dramatic role will allow her to cross over into serious acting roles, and give her the opportunity to spread her wings. Beyonce’s last big screen role was in 2009’s Obsessed, opposite Idris Elba.
