BGSU posts shutout at Kent State

On the next Bowling Green drive, Kent State was hit with an unsportmanlike conduct penalty that moved the ball all the way to the Falcon 11-yard line.

Bowling Green, leading 41-0 entering the final quarter, scored the only touchdown of the period on a 15-yard pass from Matt Johnson to Roger Lewis with 8:55 on the clock. Bowling Green Falcons recorded 442.3 passing yards and 149.5 rushing yards while allowed 281.3 passing yards and 196.8 russhing yards with turnover differential of -0.3.

In this game against Kent State, the quarterly breakdown really says it all.

Johnson, who also ran for a 4-yard score, was 27 of 40 for 430 yards.

Johnson just keeps rolling, with five touchdown passes in three straight games.

His two incredible touchdown catches against Kent State on this Saturday may change that.

Roger Lewis has 1,020 yards coming into the game, placing him squarely in the top five receivers yards-wise in the nation, and surely will add to that as the seaosn progresses. Bowling Green finished with 602 yards of total offense on 91 plays, and had 31 first downs. Bollas finished just 12 of 25 for 111 yards and those two interceptions in just his second start. Kent State Golden Flashes rank at 25 for 262.5 road rushing yards where as Bowling Green Falcons rank at 83 for allowing 210.7 rushing yards at home. The biggest issue was that each drive was aided by KSU’s defense.

The Orange and Brown will be a team to watch going forward into the conference season, and will definitely be a G5 power to watch in the coming year.
