The opposition Congress and BJP members staged a walk-out when the Speaker refused their request to reconsider the ruling.
Speaker Niranjan Pujari placed Das under suspension after a motion moved by Government Chief Whip Ananta Das in this regard was passed by a voice vote during the Zero Hour on Tuesday.
When the House reassembled, Leader of Opposition of Congress Narasingha Mishra said before taking any action against a member on the basis of allegation levelled by another lawmaker, there must be an inquiry and the accused legislator given an opportunity to present his position. Das said facts were being misrepresented, which could be part of a conspiracy against him.
Just because BJD has majority, it has resorted to dictatorial practice and took action on the basis of simply an allegation, Mr Das added. I had clarified on Monday that I accidentally touched the YouTube application on my mobile phone while searching some information on my homepage.
Meanwhile, the Jharsuguda MLA has denied the charge against him.
The footage pertaining to Mr. Das watching an objectionable video clip was telecast by an Odia television news channel on Monday inviting criticism from various quarters. “I scrolled down unwittingly when the TV camera shot me”.

Former minister and BJD MLA Pramila Mallick, who was the first to raise the issue in the House, slammed Das for lowering the dignity of the House.
