Bicyclist dies in crash while peddling in the middle of I

The CHP said the bus was carrying several dozen children around the age of 8 when the accident happened on Interstate 80 in Berkeley on Monday morning.

The three left southbound I-680 lanes were closed after the accident occurred just before 7 a.m. Monday, according to the CHP. “We had a total of 23 patients that were transported and an additional 17 that were not injured”, Berkeley Fire Department Asst.

A parent of one of the students on the bus told Berkeleyside that the youth were attendees of Camp Kee Tov in Berkeley, which is run by Congregation Beth El on Oxford Street.

It was a school bus loaded with kids, aged 5 to 15, headed to a park in Oakland as part of their summer day camp experience.

An unknown number of 8-year-old campers suffered minor to moderate injuries and a counselor suffered a cut to the face.

Traffic is backed up to Central Avenue in Richmond.

A para-glider was rescued near Napa County’s Lake Hennessey by the California Highway Patrol helicopter on Saturday afternoon, agency officials said.
