1 (UPI) – Vice President Joseph R. Biden, Jr., is said to be considering a campaign to replace President Barack Obama when he leaves office – a move that would quickly make him one of the top Democratic frontrunners in 2016.

The speculation intensified Thursday when friends of Clinton’s spotted Ricchetti having breakfast at the Four Seasons in Washington with Louis B. Susman, a major donor and former ambassador to Britain.

Yet the silence from Biden hasn’t sapped the hope from all of his supporters, even though they recognize his focus is elsewhere.

Biden has been slowly returning to a normal schedule following the death of his son two months ago. “In recent weeks, the vice president has worked on the nuclear deal with Iran, traveled across the country to highlight the administration’s economic priorities and more”.

If he does, the run won’t be easy, as he would start off his campaign with nearly no support, which is much needed considering the growing strength of his main competitor.

That left some prominent Democrats non-plussed. He has not discounted those arguments, Democrats close to him say, and he feels no pressure to reach a decision by the end of summer as he once suggested.

I tend to agree that it is wholly plausible that Mr. Biden will carry the Democratic banner.
